Intra Spinal Pump Evaluation
A spinal pump is for patients with severe intractable back pain or any other form of intractable pain such as cancer pain that requires aggressive pain medication that is delivered directly into the spinal fluid.
Medicine is continuously infused into the spinal fluid. Medicine is usually morphine or some other similar strong pain medicine that creates a very strong relief of pain at a very low dose of medication.
These procedures are all done under x-ray guidance and sedation in the procedure suite or in a hospital outpatient setting
Spinal Cord Stimulator Evaluation
Spinal cord stimulator is a device that is placed into the spine and more specifically into the epidural space. It has electrodes at the tip to generate an impulse that creates a signal of vibration or tingling in the back and down the legs that over lies the pain signals that are generated at the level of the spine.
Candidates for this procedure may include people who have had multiple back surgery or neuropathy
These procedures are all done under x-ray guidance and sedation in the procedure suite or in a hospital outpatient setting
